WHAT IS A SMASHBOOK?Comments from recent SMASHBOOK CLASS PARTICIPANTS: I like to think of a Smashbook as a journal on steroids! In this class we combined the physical, drawing, cutting and pasting, painting and writing with the metaphysical and spiritual.
All this just using a basic 50 cent notebook, watercolors, acrylics, brushes and crayons! I recommend this process to anyone wanting to change something that no longer serves them and to expand and grow. LMM This class gave me total freedom to create and have fun! A young girl playing quietly by herself amongst the cedar trees in the North Country On a glorious summer day. The sun is warm on her face and a breeze blows her soft fine hair. She hears the words “be gentle with yourself my dear.” Words brought from this time back to then. Words brought from this time back to then. Words brought first by the dragonfly And then the beautiful lady. “Be gentle with yourself my dear” The lady sparkles in the sunlight. She appears translucent just like the dragonfly. I have been painting in the method called intentional creativity (painting with a prayer for healing) for 6 years, ever since the death of my daughter, Amy. Painting helped comfort me and I felt a connection with the Divine.
I live in Northern Michigan with my husband, a dog, cat and 4 horses. I find so much peace in nature and love my woodsy surroundings. We've also lived in Ann Arbor, Northern California and Fiji, My current work is in the impressionist symbolic style. I teach intentional creativity classes locally and on-line ZOOM. I am a CERTIFIED COSMIC SMASHBOOK TEACHER AND GUIDE. I've been painting for years and have studied with various artists. I graduated from Siena Heights University with a BA in Humanities. During my studies at Siena Heights, I had many art classes, including art therapy. I am not a certified art therapist but can surely pass along my personal experience with the benefits of artmaking in my healing journey. I believe the spontaneous creation of art offers a way to HEAL AND LEARN MORE ABOUT YOURSELF. Art making is a restorative and assertive act that produces new insights and renews your ability to experience JOY. T
